This was my first outing to a Rally Sport Association (RSA) event and hopefully not the last. The event was a Tarmac sprint race held at the Nutts Corner Motorsport Centre and the fifth round of the 2021/22 NI Winter Championship. While I’m not fully familiar with the format, there was a full entry with 13 different classes. There is also a wide range of machinery racing, everything from micras, minis, turbo and four wheeled drive cars and of course the spectacular Karts.
The weather managed to hold up quite well with only a few lights showers, but the track remained wet and greasy all day. There was a lot of slipping and sliding but generally the cars managed to stay mostly on the black stuff!! As a sprint event the cars were let off at intervals, so without being in the paddock to follow the timings it was quite difficult to gauge who was leading the pack, but this didn’t detract from the excitement.
Thanks to RSA for a great day.
